Mrs Lovett (Head of Food and Nutrition)
The new International Cuisine Cooking Club started this term with participants ranging from Years 7-11. The first session was run by Ms Lewandowski (SEND Support Assistant), who introduced the students to delicious Polish cuisine.
During the engaging workshop, Ms Lewandowski spoke to the students about Poland, sharing some of her memories of living there and the food she remembered enjoying as a child. The students made Rogaliki, which are small crescent shaped pasties with plum filling. They then had the opportunity to taste a range of Polish products – a favourite was the Pierogi and also the fudge called Krówki, which literally translates as little cow!
The second session was delivered by student Ava Oldroyd (Year 9), who enjoys cooking Thai dishes at home with her Mum and sister. Ava kindly volunteered to talk to the students about Thai food and brought in some samples of Thai sweet treats for them to try. She showed the students how to make Khao Pad Sapparot and Pad Prik Gaeng and then helped them to make their own. Thank you so much Ms Lewandowski and Ava. Next week we’ll be heading back to Europe with French cuisine.
