Mrs Bullerwell (PE Administrator)
There was a hive of tennis activity at Gordon’s Fields on Saturday 4th June with nearly 50 students representing BGS in a set of friendly fixtures against Bedford Prep School and Bedford School. All matches were doubles play with plenty of competitive tennis on show.
The sun was shining especially for the event and it was lovely to team up with the boys for an informal fixture. A total of 55 sets and 331 games were played across all age groups with BGS winning two out of the five age groups.
After the success of our Years 7 and 8 in their Partnership Tennis Tournament at the end of May, the focus now turned to the Years 9 and 10 players who competed at the Riverside LTC on Monday. Timed singles matches were played against their opposite number from all the other schools including Biddenham International School and Sports College, Goldington Academy, BMSl, KCA, Castle Newnham and Lincroft.
There was some healthy rivalry when the two teams had to play each other but it was all done in true BGS team spirit. Many congratulations to our Year 9 Partnership tennis team on winning their tournament and to the Year 10 team who claimed the runners up spot.
