On Wednesday, the whole of Year 8 went to The Big Bang Fair at the NEC in Birmingham.

The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair is the largest celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) for young people in the UK. It is an award-winning combination of exciting theatre shows, interactive workshops and exhibits and careers information from STEM professionals.

The Big Bang Fair aims to show young people the exciting and rewarding opportunities out there for them with the right experience and qualifications, by bringing classroom learning to life.

Throughout the day, the students enjoyed numerous stage shows and hands-on activities including a whistle-stop tour through the cosmos, coding workshops, Physics in the freezer and among many more engaging activities. View a full list here.

Katarina (Year 8) said: “The Big Bang Fair was a lot of fun and I learned a lot from it. For example, I thought there was only one type of engineering and now I know that there are all these different types of engineering ranging from mechanical to electrical engineering. I also learned new things from companies such as the National Grid whose vision is for a cleaner and greener future.”
