This year the Girls’ Leadership Group (GLG) campaign is called YOUnIted with our goal being to celebrate individuality whilst being proud of the community we are all a part of.
We want to embrace and celebrate our identities but we also understand the importance of coming together as one, we believe that these two things aren’t mutually exclusive.
On a small scale, each GLG member is different. Each of us comes from diverse backgrounds, have different interests, wants and dreams for our futures. However, in our differences we work and collaborate well with each other, something we are very proud of. This was why we wanted our GLG campaign to revolve around the celebration of each of our identities, within a collaborating society: to be proud of ourselves and the combined school community that we all belong to.
Many of our initiatives this academic year will be based on the celebration of different cultures and traditions within the community with the start of these based around Black History Month. Following in the footsteps of the hugely successful BGS Culture Festival, where we all enjoyed learning so much about our community, we also hope to run many inter-school events to continue to bring as many people from different backgrounds together. We are all together as one.
