Year 6 pupil, Millie Middleton, and her alumna mum, Whizz Middleton (née Shaw, BHS 1998) are hosting a ‘Trek24’ fundraising event at their family farm, Barton Hill Farm, Lilley on Saturday 29th April 2023, in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance, as a way of thanking them for helping to save somebody’s life on their farm recently.

The pair would like to encourage any of the BGS community to join the event too, promising a beautiful day in the great outdoors whilst raising money for a great cause. Trek24 is a 24 km or 24 mile fundraising walk. Sign up for the event is £19, which includes a t-shirt, lunch, a medal, and finish line meal and a celebratory drink.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance is a life-saving charity, which serves six counties and costs £17.3m a year to run. It provides an essential service to the region saving lives by delivering highly skilled doctors and critical care paramedics by air or car to seriously ill and injured people. This year so far has seen 93 helicopter missions.

For those unfamiliar with this part of South Bedfordshire, this is the very hilly part of the county and the pair have been busy practising and getting their steps in and around the picturesque, but steep Barton Hills. As Millie says: “I love walking, so to do something I love and to know that I’m doing it to help others is amazing.”
