We are overjoyed to hear that two of our inspirational sporting alumnae are continuing to thrive on the international stage.
Northamptonshire cricketer, Florence Miller (BGS 2022), has signed her first professional contract with Sunrisers Cricket Team. Florence has regularly featured in the Academy side and was ever-present in the recent Charlotte Edwards Cup competition. Florence reflected on signing her first professional contract: “Being offered my first professional contract is so exciting, and I can’t wait to get going this season! It’s also great to start my career with Jodi alongside me, since we’ve been playing together at Northants for years now, so to begin this journey together is special.”
Florence is currently studying Management with a placement year at Loughborough University. Read more here.
University of Nottingham hockey player, Maddie Axford (BGS 2021), has been selected for the 2023 GB Women's Elite Development Programme (EDP) squad. Maddie will be joined by high-potential U18 and U21 English players, who will continue to develop their tournament hockey skills and look to secure a place in the team for the next women’s Junior World Cup in Chile in December.
In April 2022, Maddie and her England Hockey U21 team claimed a historic bronze at the Junior Women’s World Cup in Potchefstroom, South Africa. Maddie is studying International Media and Communications at the University of Nottingham. Read more here.
