We are delighted to hear that Jasmine Noor (Year 9) has been selected to take part in this year’s International Child Advisory Network (iCAN) summit, which takes place in San Diego, USA from 10 – 14 July 2023.
Jasmine's dedication as an active member of the Young People's Advisory Group for Research (eyeYPAG) at Moorfields Eye Hospital since it was founded in 2019 has been rewarded when five young people were picked to represent the London Group at this international meeting. Together, these groups will shape the future of clinical research with children and young people.
When asked about her involvement in the Moorfields’ Young People's Advisory Group for Research, Jasmine said: “We help researchers with planning their research projects, writing their lay summaries and information leaflets for parents and children. We also help with designing or giving our advice on things like technologies or devices that are used in research or are being created for research to help diagnose or treat certain conditions.”
Jasmine continued: “I am excited to attend this event, because I like hearing about other people's research and their ideas about how they have improved their own groups. I will also enjoy talking to an international group of people about our activities and the techniques that we use. I think this will build my experience with public speaking, and build friendships with young people from all over the world.”
Many congratulations, Jasmine! We eagerly await to hear about your experience and what you have learned. Find out more about the conference here.
