Every year, seven young people from across Bedfordshire are appointed to serve as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets. The chosen cadets are amongst the best in their respective cadet force and it is a huge honour to be chosen.
We were delighted to hear that Licia Cacioppo (Lower Sixth), was recently commissioned into this role for being an outstanding cadet since joining the school’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) in September 2020.
Major Lumley-Wood (Contingent Commander) said: “When Cadet Sgt Licia Cacioppo joined the contingent as a recruit in Year 10 she immediately stood out from the rest. She has served two years in the Army Section and has now matured into an outstanding NCO. Her attendance on parade days, camps and field weekends has been excellent and her turnout exemplary from the get-go.
“Licia has shown exceptional leadership and initiative on Annual camp and Field weekends. She is highly respected by CFAVs (Cadet Force Adult Volunteers), fellow NCOs and more junior members of the Corps, with whom she interacts particularly well. Licia was a crucial member of the contingent’s Intelligence Corps Competition Team, and her contribution was key to their ultimate victory this year.
“As a requirement of being appointed, Licia has contributed to the wider BGS community by being a dedicated rower and much of her time is taken-up training and competing. Last year she coxed the Schools J16 1st VIII and then the J16 1st IV, the Star Club Senior Men’s squad, as well as coaching junior years. Before rowing took over, Licia spent eight years Figure Skating, competing at regional and national levels. Licia has completed her Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards and has now embarked on Gold.
“By any measure, Cadet Sgt Licia Cacioppo is an outstanding cadet.”
Licia was formally commissioned at a ceremony held at the Bedfordshire Police Headquarters on 2nd October and this week saw her first official duty as the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet and is looking forward to performing her duties.
