Senior School

Over the past two weeks we have welcomed 30 Year 5 pupils from Broughton Manor and Milton Keynes Preparatory Schools into BGS, to take part in a morning of fun activities, enabling them to learn more about our school and meet key members of staff.

During the mornings the pupils took part in an energetic netball training session with our Head of Netball, Miss Huckle, where they got to practise and develop their netball skills, culminating in a fun match against each other.

At breaktime, groups of BGS Year 5 pupils spent time with our visitors, chatting to them about life at BGS, answering questions (many about lunch!) and getting to know each other over squash and cookies. Some of our current Senior School pupils who joined us from Broughton Manor and Milton Keynes Prep Schools also joined at break and it was wonderful for them to catch up with their former teachers and update them on what they’ve been up to since joining BGS.

Once they were fully refreshed our visitors then took part in an interactive song writing task with our Director of Music, Mr Keating-Robert, and our Lower Sixth Music students. They worked in small groups to compose a protest song, thinking about issues which affect them and writing lyrics to accompany a piano and percussion background. All of our visitors had a wonderful time and left full of excitement about their time at BGS, hoping to visit again soon and maybe becoming a BGS pupil in the future.
