By Miss Dawson (Head of Year 9)
Earlier this half term, Year 9 were introduced to our international charity, United World Schools (UWS), whose aim is to ‘teach the unreachable’ in parts of South East Asia, focusing particularly on girls' education and issues related to girls, such as period poverty.
Having learned about the charity and how relatively small sums of money can make a big difference in these areas, each Year 9 form group was tasked with coming up with fundraising ideas to raise money for this charity.
We started by running a charity fair this week, where each form had its own stall planned, organised, promoted, and run by members of the form. These stalls ranged from selling cakes and doughnuts to a tombola and guessing the number of sweets in the jar. The fair was hugely successful, with the final total raising a substantial £425, as well as promoting the important work of the charity.
