By Tania (Head Girl) and Rachel (Deputy Head Girl)
Last Friday (3rd May) was the official handover from the outgoing Girls' Leadership Group (GLG) in the Upper Sixth to the incoming GLG in the Lower Sixth. This handover was marked by an afternoon of team-building activities at Cople Fields, giving us a chance to start the year off with a bang.
We had the opportunity to try some inflatable activities which included sumo wrestling, a demolition derby, and basketball ball bungee. However, due to the wet weather, we also played some nostalgic inside games. In order to celebrate and acknowledge the hard work done by our outgoing GLG, we prepared some lovely decorations which gave them a chance to reminisce. We also prepared a range of food for the outgoing GLG. An assortment of charcuterie boards, some classic pizzas, and sweet treats were some of the foods the GLG got to indulge in.
It was really lovely to hear the experiences of the outgoing GLG and allowed them to impart some final words of wisdom. The afternoon further smoothed the transition between the groups, providing us, the incoming girls, with a projection of all the exciting things we have ahead of us. We are really looking forward to embracing our roles and building on the past girls’ work.
Outgoing Head Girl, Tash Miller said: “I speak on behalf of the entire GLG when I say how enjoyable the afternoon was. From the delicious food to the thoughtful decorations, it was truly the perfect way to close what has been such a fun year as the GLG; and highlighted how capable and determined the incoming group are. We thank you all for providing a celebration of the past and upcoming year (and for the delectable treats).”
