By Mrs Simms (Business and Economics Teacher)
Our Lower Sixth students studying a mix of A-Level Business, A-Level Economics, and IB Economics, recently participated in the GAIN Investment Challenge.
Forming three teams, they immersed themselves in researching their assigned company; Marks & Spencer, ASOS, and Associated British Foods (Primark) with a view to deciding whether to hold current stock, sell, or buy more. Throughout the competition, they attended weekly conferences introducing them to potential investment careers and technical training from industry specialists on evaluating investments.
Working with a professional mentor, they created pitch documents and videos. Despite not clinching any prizes, the challenge offered a remarkable learning journey. The students honed their skills in teamwork, communication, and investment strategies, reflecting the real-world dynamics of financial analysis and decision-making.
Their hard work and dedication were celebrated with well-deserved certificates. This experience not only enriched their academic pursuits but also equipped them with invaluable life skills, preparing them for future successes in the business world.
