We are thrilled for 2022 BGS alumna and former BGS Sports Captain, Flo Miller, who has signed a two-year contract with Essex Women's Cricket following her standout 2024 performances with the Sunrisers.
Flo is widely regarded as one of the best fielders in the women’s professional game, earning both Fielder of the Year and Player of the Year at the end-of-season Sunrisers awards.
Flo made her county debut in 2019 for Northamptonshire, facing Suffolk in the Women's County Championship. She played two further matches in the County Championship that season, without batting or bowling. She also appeared in two matches in the 2019 Women's Twenty20 Cup, batting once and scoring seven runs. An injury kept her out of the 2021 Women’s Twenty20 Cup, but she returned in 2022 to score 119 runs, including her maiden Twenty20 half-century, with an unbeaten 53 against Leicestershire. Flo went on to be Northamptonshire's leading run-scorer in the 2023 Women's Twenty20 Cup, amassing 140 runs with a top score of 46.
In 2023, she played 13 matches for the Sunrisers across the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the Charlotte Edwards Cup, scoring 132 runs. Her 2024 season included several crucial innings for the Sunrisers, most notably a match-winning 47 not out to beat the Southern Vipers at Radlett, 39 not out in a 20-over match against the South East Stars at Lord’s, and a pivotal 91-run partnership with Lissy McLeod in just 10 overs, which secured the Sunrisers a place in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint semi-finals. The team went on to win the final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in Leicester in September.
We look forward to following Flo’s journey with Essex Women's Cricket.
