Bedford Girls’ School Sixth Form student Katie Parrish has been selected for Wales’ U19 lacrosse squad – ahead of the Home Internationals at Surrey Sports Park in April.

Katie, whose mother is Welsh, has been called-up to the U19A team, after competing for Wales in the U18 International Festival of Lacrosse in Edinburgh last summer.

Katie has since impressed in residential training and selection weekends in Monmouth.

Miss MacKenzie, Bedford Girls’ School Headmistress, said: “We’re extremely proud of Katie competing at an elite sporting level.

“Her call-up further demonstrates BGS’ reputation of being one of the best girls’ schools in the country for producing sporting talent. This is underpinned by the breadth and expertise within our Sports Department, with many of the coaches having competed at an international level.”

With the Home Internationals final line-up yet to be announced, last year’s competition involved England, Ireland, Scotland, Scottish League All Stars and Wales. The 2016 event is to be held between Friday 15th April and Sunday 17th April.
