Year 6 had a visit from the English-based Mighty Zulu Nation Theatre Company on Tuesday (26th April), an organisation that has afforded opportunities to young South Africans to follow creative pursuits.
Originating from Durban, the performers put on a vibrant workshop showcasing traditional Zulu culture with powerful dance sequences, accompanied by Zulu drums.
The girls listened to traditional Zulu songs and harmonies before learning and singing along with the performers.
The workshop concluded with a whole year group performance of a traditional Zulu dance routine.
Ciara Allen and Charlotte Chrystal said: “This was the best workshop we have ever seen. It was amazing. There was so much passion for singing and dancing.”
Mrs Childs, Head of Year 6, said: “The workshop provided a unique cultural experience that increased awareness of the diversity of our planet, linked to the Footprints Unit of Enquiry, while providing opportunity to identify with all the creative aspects of life that encourage us to share our common humanity.”
