Sixth Form Careers

With the UCAS deadline approaching on Sunday (15th January), BGS girls are ahead of the game and receiving a wealth of offers from top universities.

88% of the current Upper Sixth cohort applied to university this year, with 6% choosing to take a gap year, 4% choosing to apply for school leaver programmes and 2% applying to Art Foundation courses.

Of those applying to university, 64% have so far received offers from three or more of their maximum five choices and 18% have received offers from all of their chosen institutions. 10% of girls have already received an unconditional offer from at least one of their institutions.

Girls continue to choose wide-ranging courses, many of which are STEM based, including Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Marine Biology, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Biology, Biochemistry and Physics.

Mrs Longstaff, Head of Careers, said: “Those with interviews as part of the process, including Medicine, Dentistry, Vet Medicine and some Arts degrees, are still going through multiple interviews and we wish them every success.

Girls have applied to all parts of the UK and the Careers team has also supported applications to the Netherlands and Canada, showing that BGS students continue to be internationally minded and ready to embrace exciting opportunities available to them.
