Whole School Swimming

Mr Castro (Head of Swimming)

On Thursday 22nd November, the BGS swim team travelled to Warwick for the annual Warwick 100’s Gala. The event sees a team of five swimmers ranging from U14 to U18 competing in all of the strokes - 200 Individual medley, freestyle relay and medley relay.

Performances win points for the overall team prize. All the girls put in very strong performances with some girls achieving personal best times. Each of the age groups won their category, this led to the team achieving the overall top school. Last year the girls lost the overall competition by a single point. Winning this year shows how hard the BGS swim team has worked.

Meanwhile at the weekend (24th – 25th November), Nwando Ifeacho (Year 6) travelled to Leeds to compete in the British Modern Biathlon Championships. This was comprised of a 50m swim and a 800m run. Nwando had the 2nd fastest swim in a time of 32.4 seconds and the 30th fastest run, resulting in her gaining enough points to finish 14th out of 68 competitors.
