Once again BGS was delighted to start off British Science Week in the community with BedPop 2019, which is a locally led initiative aimed at creating a greater awareness of STEM amongst primary aged children.
Based in The Barbican Room in The Higgins on Saturday 9th March, Sixth Form and Year 11 scientists Sara Bhandhari, Esha Rashid, Jessamie Warwick, Abi Dunford, Sara Thomas, Lily Dempsey, Phoebe Miles and Rea Pourawal, overseen by Head of Science, Mrs Smart and Science Technician, Mrs Everest, led many hands on activities throughout the day.
Activities included chemical curiosities with Skittles, augmented reality, producing electrical power using solar panels, foil boats and bath bomb making.
Phoebe Miles said: “It was a very busy and fun-filled event! We enjoyed welcoming all of the young visitors and their families with enthusiasm and ably guided them through the various activities.”
