Mrs Lovett (Head of Food and Nutrition)
As part of their GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition course, Year 9 students explored food from different cultures to gain an insight into the skills and techniques involved when producing street food. As a result, the girls decided to put their skills into action by hosting a street food showcase event last Friday.
The girls had spent weeks researching, preparing resources and trialling dishes. During the evening guests were spoilt for choice, with some delicious savoury and sweet tasters, all influenced by the street food of another country.
The guests commented on how well the girls interacted with them, talking about what they had learnt and the dishes they had presented. It was a fantastic opportunity for the food produced to be the main event, although some of it disappeared quite quickly.
To make and present three different dishes in three hours is a challenge for anyone. We were extremely impressed with how well they worked and the food produced; the standard was extremely high!
