Last weekend, the Team BGS equestrians leapt to glory in both Junior and Senior show jumping events

Saskia Cutts (Year 6) represented the school at the Grass Roots Show Jumping Championships of the National Schools Equestrian Association at Leighton Buzzard. She qualified for the finals after a super result in September in the school team riding her pony, Truffle. Saskia rode a brilliant clear round on Saturday but wasn’t quick enough for a rosette this time.

The Senior team competed at The Plate National Championship at Keysoe during the weekend. The 80cm Arena Eventer team came 5th out of 18 teams with riders Josie Franklin (Year 10), Jess White (Year 10), Ella Jemmett-Gabrys (Year 9) and Sophia Osbourne (Year 9) performing superbly on the technical course. The riders also excelled in the individual event, which a had a huge class of 97 entries. Ella Jemmett Gabrys placed 7th riding Brooke and Jess White placed 18th riding Jo.

In the 95cm Windsor Qualifier, BGS placed 3rd with riders Josie Franklin, Ella Jemmett Gabrys and Holly Maudlin (Year 7). There was no qualification this time but there’s still further opportunities for BGS to return to Windsor in 2020. Other riders representing the school were Emily Armitage (Year 10) and Imi Bradbury (Year 9).

The team will be out again in January at the County Qualifiers for show jumping and dressage.
