Miss Elsom (Drama Theatre and Events Technician)
We are excited it reintroduce some of our co-curricular clubs targeting specific year groups, where students get to work with the dedicated drama team, exploring more than just th eperformance aspect of thearte
Theatre Crew, which this term has been targeted to our Year 9 students, looks to develop behind the curtain skills of students. In the first term we look to explore all the areas at an introductory level: how to use and operate the lighting board; how to source and edit music and underscoring, and how to design and create model boxes as just some examples. This provides the students with a great insight into options they can take a GCSE and A Level Drama
As well as starting up Theatre Crew for Year 9, our Year 8 students have the opportunity to join the new and improved Drama Club, run by Mrs Horton (Drama Teacher).
In Year 8 Drama Club this term the students are focusing on “thinking like an actor” and developing performance skills associated with this. They are exploring how actors need to collaborate and work at speed to create an effective performance. They are discovering how to create believable characters in some unbelievable situations and most importantly having fun with creating drama, being intellectually playful, understanding how to channel their “inner Elsa”: Let it go and not take ourselves too seriously!
With all that the year has brought our girls, it is so wonderful that they are able to get involved in physical explorations of both in front and behind the curtain.
