Mrs Hoar (Challenge and Extend Coordinator)

Since February of this year, several of our Sixth Form girls have enjoyed the ongoing experience of an independent learning challenge; the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

The EPQ is an opportunity for A Level students, to extend and enrich their learning through research and enquiry. It is carried out independently, but alongside existing A Levels, and embeds skills that are invaluable for future studies, with a range of possible outcomes, which are shared through the medium of a written dissertation or an artefact. From exploring how architecture can be modified to create sustainability to exploring the advances of Pluripotent stem cells in medicine, each project is highly personalised and demonstrates a superb understanding of the girls’ chosen subject matter.

I am very proud of how our girls have risen to the challenges of all aspects of this qualification. We hope to publish the work later this year, so watch this space!
