Talented artist, Ellie Douglass (Year 11), has been announced as the winner of a Christmas card design competition organised by the Ruth Strauss Foundation.
Ellie reflected: “A while ago I entered a Christmas card design competition for the Ruth Strauss Foundation, which is a charity that raises awareness of non-smoking lung cancers and provides emotional and physical support for families. The charity is run by ex-cricket captain Sir Andrew Strauss, and many of you know that my family loves cricket (which is why there is a cricket ball bauble).
“I used watercolour for the robin, cricket ball bauble and leaves, and also calligraphy pens for the details on the robin/the tree branch! Definitely the best watercolour I’ve ever done!”
Mrs Lugsden (Head of Art and Textiles), said: “We are all thrilled that Ellie has had her beautiful watercolour painting made into a Christmas card, and hope that it helps to raise funds for this charity.”
Ellie’s festive design can now be purchased from the online shop here.
