World Book Day takes place on Thursday 4th March. Designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, World Book Day is marked in over 100 counties around the globe.

BGS will be hosting a variety of literacy-based activities to promote reading for pleasure and a love of books on the day. In addition, the World Book Day website offers some wonderful resources including Book Clubs, Reading Recommendations and Competitions. Other highlights include:

Free Junior School Audio books

20 free audiobooks including Mindfulness for Children read by Sheridan Smith and Running on the Roof of the World by Jess Butterworth. Titles are suitable for toddlers to young teens. Click HERE.

Reading is Power: Young Adult Author Podcasts

Nine influential Young Adult authors, including Costa Award winning writer Frances Hardinge, and the author of ‘SPLIT’ Muhammad Khan, have created a series of podcasts discussing all things bookish. Click HERE.

WBD Books AND Voucher

Thanks to the support of National Book Tokens and the book seller community, WBD is able to offer schools across the county a £1 World Book Day book token for every child under the age of 18. The token can be swapped for one of the WBD titles available from participating booksellers or used to receive a £1 discount on any full price book or audiobook. WBD tokens are valid until Sunday 28th March 2021. This year we are pleased to offer you a digital voucher to print at home.
