Many congratulations to Lucie Bridgman (Lower Sixth), whose script School of Nightmares, has claimed the runners-up spot in the Reel Girls Film Festival 2021 Screenwriting Awards.
The Reel Girls Film Festival is the first-ever all-girls international student film festival, devoted entirely to encouraging and supporting young female filmmakers. The festival believes that a community devoted to young female filmmakers allows them to thrive and develop their unique voices and visions, these are the roots for establishing gender equality in the film industry.
At the end of March, Lucie’s script was shortlisted in the Best Screenplay (15-19) category, and after reading through a record number of submissions from young women writers all over the world, the judges decided to award Lucie the runners-up spot.
The judges said: “We were impressed by the wide variety of topics and the quality of writing submitted. It really is something to have completed a feature-length script so early in life! These writers accomplished so much and had us eagerly flipping pages well into the night. Congratulations to each of them!”
Lucie reflected: “I am very happy that I won a runners-up place. This year there was a record number of scripts entered so to be shortlisted, let alone to win an award, is an incredible honour.”
