This week, Mrs Greenwood (Head of Philosophy and Religion) and Mrs Pagliaro (Philosophy and Religion Teacher) enjoyed lunch at Wagamama with their A level Religious Studies Upper Sixth leavers. It was good to catch up with each other in more relaxed circumstances, even though we still continued some of our philosophical and ethical discussions outside of the classroom! On discovering we had all chosen vegan meals, the questions inevitably followed about the reasons for our choices.
The intriguing question of whether artificial meat, grown in a lab, is morally acceptable to us was hotly debated. Issues such as the ethics involved in flying abroad or having the vaccination for COVID were also discussed, before we wished our fond farewells to Bella, Isobel and Emily. It is good to know that the critical thinking is embedded well and truly!
