Our keen Sixth Form Computer Scientists here at BGS, Tobi Apesin, Tasneem Hussain, Athena Kurtti and Grace Maguire have formed a small group, the Lovelace Society, with like-minded individuals to meet together with the purpose of finding out more about studying the subject at university and future careers. Working with The Alumnae Office they have arranged for a number of former students to deliver a series of talks  about their own personal journeys since leaving school.

Aisha Bi (2017) joined us on Monday 15th November. She graduated this year from Anglia Ruskin University with a First-Class BEng in Computer Science (with a placement year in IT at the Earth Sciences Department at the University of Cambridge) degree. Aisha is now working as a software developer for a fin-tech firm in Cambridge.

On Monday 22nd November we were joined by Jess Kemble (2018), who also graduated this year. She achieved a First Class in Computer Science degree for Hull University.  Jess is now working as a Graduate Implementation Consultant at CACI Ltd – she is really enjoying the variety of her job and explained that she is currently doing some work in conjunction with the Irish Census.

Lastly, we welcomed Charlie Anderson (2018). She is currently in her final year at the University of East Anglia studying Computer Science. Prior to beginning her degree, Charlie undertook a Foundation Year at the university which she explained was a great footing for her degree programme, covering an array of areas such as back-end programming, databases, cyber security and augmented reality.

As a future inspired school that embraces technology, it is wonderful for our current students to hear from our alumnae computer scientists, who are trailblazers for women working in cutting edge tech sectors.
