During Monday lunch time, the Sixth Form were invited to a talk held by the Business and Economics Society. This time the guest speaker was BGS parent, Rachel Griffiths, who is Managing Director at Dalehead Foods, the largest meat producing company in the UK.
This talk gave us an insight into a particularly male dominated industry and Rachel gave us her top tips on how women can progress to leadership positions. Most importantly she showed us the importance of keeping an open mind when thinking about our career choices. After firstly wanting to become an art dealer at Sotheby’s, Rachel took a U-turn and entered the meat industry where now, after 17 years, she is a managing director. As Rachel said: “It’s not who’s going to let me. It’s who’s going to stop me.”
The Business and Economics Society looks forward to more inspiring talks in the near future!
