Our equestrian team were incredibly successful at Bury Farm in Leighton Buzzard on Saturday competing in the NSEA Home Counties Show Jumping qualifiers. Schools from Herts, Beds, Bucks & Northants took part with the 1st place Individuals and Teams in each County gaining a place to ride at Hickstead in the National County Championships in May.

The cold misty weather certainly didn’t dampen the rider’s spirits. Larissa Brown (Year 6) riding Kaellie’s Hot Opposition got the morning off to a great start with an incredibly fast round to win in the 70cm class, beating more than 50 other competitors in addition to being top Bedfordshire rider. Lucy Maudlin (Year 7) with Twister had a lovely clear round and Lily Sonsino (Year 7) riding Maisie also represented BGS for the first time.

The 90cm Team of Holly Maudlin (Year 9) with Eddie, Izzy Perry (Year 10) with Queenie and Emily Armitage (Lower Sixth) with Belle won the Team County Champions Title. Holly, riding my own Eddie, who she’d only ridden twice before, also took the Individual County Champion title in the 90cm and 1m classes.

Overall BGS brought home three Individual and one team County Champions Titles helping BGS to retain the County Titles in the 70cm and 90cm since 2020. The riders now get ready to travel to Hickstead in Sussex for the National County Championships.
