It’s been a very busy February for alpine skier Holly Tutt (Year 10), who has excelled on the slopes at various events abroad.

Representing BGS, Holly won two gold medals in the NSSA British Schools Alpine Open Championships (9th-11th February 2022), which took place in the Aosta Valley region of Pila, Italy. She placed first in the U16 Slalom and U16 Giant Slalom.

Following her fantastic performances on the slopes, Holly was selected to represent Great Britain as a U16 at the FIS International races in Škofja Loka, Slovenia (12th-13th February 2022). Holly did incredibly well for her first GB races against teams from 31 different nations on a very steep, tough course. She had an unfortunate DNF (did not finish) in the Slalom after clipping a gate and crashing out. However, in the giant Slalom she had a very creditable top 30 finish and was the only GB girl to finish both runs. To be placed in the top 30 in ski racing internationally is extremely good, as most of the adult GB team struggle to make top 30.

Last week, Holly raced in Santa Caterina di Valfurva, Italy, placing 2nd in the Giant Slalom, 4th in Super G and another unfortunate DNF in the Slalom.

We wish Holly all the best in her promising skiing journey.

Holly is part of the British Ski Academy (BSA), which is based in the Aosta Valley, Italy. The programme provides specialist training to aspiring young ski racers through residential camps, which is supported by a pastoral team.
