For last week’s International Cookery Club on Thursday 24th February, we welcomed BGS parent Mrs Pitt into school to demonstrate to the students how to make Caribbean style BBQ chicken. Mrs Pitt brought in some delicious chicken stew, fish stew and rice and peas for the students to try.
We have been delighted to welcome several guests to deliver sessions for our International Cuisine Cooking Club this term. We have had alumnae, parents, staff and even a brave student running sessions teaching the students to make dishes from Poland, Thailand, France, India and the Caribbean. Each week, the students have been taught about the culture, whilst getting to make a dish from that country. They have also enjoyed several opportunities to taste some popular dishes or snacks.
Charlotte Parnham (Year 11) said: “The food we made was delicious and I will be making the recipes again at home!”
Veronica Poon (Year 9): “I’ve been in this school for around a year now, and the international Cuisine Cooking Club is one of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had. I’m looking forward to the club next year.”
Nazor Onuekwusi (Year 7): “Being taught by people from different cultural backgrounds was incredible. Thank you very much for running this club, I have really enjoyed making the foods and trying the delicious foods.”
