Miss Coote (Year 4 Teacher)
Student Voice were given the responsibility of purchasing new outdoor games for the Junior School playground last week. Our first step was to investigate what equipment the girls in the Junior School felt needed updating, replacing or introducing. They conducted a survey during lunchtime play, using their strategy planning skills to ensure that they had a wide range of representation across the year groups.
Once this was achieved, we had another meeting to discuss our findings and collate the data. We are now in the final stages of investigating the offerings and costs from different providers. The girls were very principled when it came to thinking about inclusivity and durability – the games and equipment had to meet the criteria of being fully accessible for everyone in the Junior School whilst also ensuring that it is long lasting and hard-wearing from an eco-perspective.
The girls have handled this responsibility really well and I am looking forward to the assembly they will be leading about the playground and its new games and equipment.
