Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)

As part of our Heritage Week celebrations, Year 4 got busy designing a commemorative symbol, drawing on their learning from the Spring Term looking at Signs and Symbols.

The year group thought about the colours associated with BGS and also the symbols that would best illustrate this special event. They had so much fun exploring different methods of printing, including using string and card cut-outs. Learning through experience, the girls realised they needed to place numbers and letters in reverse when printing!

The girls had to reflect on their original designs as they trialled different methods before finally settling on those patterns and images that looked the most effective. They really had to draw on their skills of risk-taking, open mindedness and perseverance. The results were fantastic!

Jaya Ladher (4C) reflected: “I had to change the design for the string printing, and put things on backwards. I feel it turned out really well and looked better without all the words on it.”
