By Tash Miller (Head Girl)
Last weekend (27th April) was the official handover from the outgoing Girls' Leadership Group (GLG) in the Upper Sixth to the incoming GLG in the Lower Sixth. This handover was marked by fantastic team building activities at Cople Fields, giving us all a real taste of what is to come in the year ahead.
A laser tag tournament provided a great team-bonding opportunity for the new GLG and was also, obviously, immense fun. The outgoing GLG worked up an appetite during the activity in readiness for the afternoon tea which was being prepared by us. A feast of sandwiches, skewers and sweet treats covered the dining room tables.
It was so lovely to gain some advice from the outgoing GLG and hear about all the exciting endeavours undertaken during their last year. The afternoon definitely brought us closer as a group and my highlight was seeing Mrs Lonsdale’s (Sixth Form Pastoral Officer) face light up when she found out she, too, could have a go at laser tag!
Outgoing Head Girl, Tobiloba Apesin reflected: “I'm not alone in saying that I had a great time at the change over day. It was really nice to spend one last day with the outgoing GLG and the laser tag was a really fun way to bring us all together (literally and figuratively) for a highly competitive event. The incoming GLG really outdid themselves with the food, providing us with plenty of choice of both the sweet and savoury and I'm sure they will continue to go above and beyond in all they do in the future.”
