Sixth Form

We are pleased to announce that the Sixth Form Instagram account has now been passed to another aspiring marketeer, Poppy Harris (Lower Sixth).

The Edit interviewed Poppy to talk about why it is important to connect with students through social media.

A huge thank you to Jemima Peacock (Upper Sixth), who previously ran the account and showcased the student experience through the eyes of the Sixth Form students. We wish her all the best in her examinations.

We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of our highly anticipated Sixth Form TikTok account! Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!

When did you join the BGS Community?

I was welcomed into the BGS community in Year 5.

Who asked you to be the new face behind the Sixth Form student led Instagram account?

Mrs Woolley (Director of Sixth Form) and Mrs Lonsdale (Sixth Form Pastoral Officer) asked me to be the new face behind Instagram and I was super excited to be offered the opportunity!

Do you have a team who will help promote and support the Sixth Form key messages?

Yes, I am part of a wider team that shares many stories, including Sixth Former stories, across many different channels. Also, there is an exciting new Sixth Form TikTok that will be launching shortly which is also run by Sixth Form students. I will be liaising with the TikTok team to ensure that all amazing aspects of Sixth Form life are shared.

How are you going to keep building the BGS Sixth Form Instagram following?

I will be posting regularly, trying to keep up with everything that goes on in Sixth Form as I know I will not be limited in finding content! I have plans to create a series of reels, incorporating the TikTok videos and more. As well as this there is also a plan for both a drama and sport takeover in the future…

What skills are hoping to gain from running the student-led Instagram account?

I am hoping that being responsible for the Sixth Form Instagram account will help develop my communication and creative skills to increase engagement and the profile of BGS Sixth Form.

What are your career aspirations?

At university I plan to study Business Management, and after this I am hoping to go into the marketing industry, specifically digital marketing. I am interested in the many different ways that different demographics can be reached and believe that I would thoroughly enjoy a job in this area.

How would you promote BGS to a potential Sixth Form student?

I would emphasise how much BGS helps push students out of their comfort zone to find their individual strengths and prepare them for life beyond school. Sixth Form is a safe community where students are able to mature and grow and do not forget that there is always time to have fun.
