Saturday 24th June marked one of the hottest days of the year thus far, yet it failed to deter over 100 enthusiastic students who gathered to compete for the highly coveted title of Year Group Tennis Champion.

The day kicked off with Years 3, 4 and 5 showcasing their skills on the court while playing with red, orange and green balls, respectively. As the morning progressed, the girls displayed exceptional improvement in their game, with the experience of match play proving to be truly phenomenal.

During the midday hours, it was time for Years 6, 7, and 8 to demonstrate their tennis skills on full-sized courts with the yellow balls. The matches were intense, and the competition was so close at times that a calculator was needed to determine the semi-finalists! The level of skill displayed by the participants was impressive.

At 2 pm, the courts welcomed Years 9, 10, and the Seniors. Despite the scorching heat, the quality of tennis remained fantastic. The outcome of each match was unpredictable, but it was evident that every player exhibited the true spirit of BGS throughout the tournament.

A special mention goes to our Seniors, who made their presence felt and contributed to creating a highly competitive and memorable conclusion to the day's events.

Thank you to all the competitors who arrived early and generously volunteered as umpires for the Junior matches. We are also grateful to the parents, grandparents, and supporters who attended the event and thoroughly enjoyed our hospitality.
