On Thursday 12th October, the Drama Department took Year 7 to the Adelphi Theatre in London to see Back to the Future: The Musical.
Audience members praised the students for their exemplary behaviour and politeness as they were captivated by the astonishing special effects, spectacular dances, and catchy songs.
The show culminated in a thrilling moment when a car flew into the audience, leaving everyone in awe. It was truly a magical experience.
Next half term, the students will have the opportunity to review the show during their Drama lessons, where they will learn how to analyse and evaluate live theatre. We are excited about the work they create in response to the show.
Miss Elsom (Theatre and Events Technician) added: “When you experience a west end musical you expect many things: flashy costumes; extravagant sets, and an amazing live band to take you on a journey. You do not expect a full size automatronic DeLorean on stage.
“The whole world of Back To The Future, with use of projection mapping to create digital backdrops and set trucks that are meticulously detailed for Easter eggs for all ages to enjoy. This fun-loving musical blends all elements of the film but the classics of a musical theatre show beautifully together to create entertainment for all ages.”
