On Thursday 19th October, just before the half term break, The Lower Sixth Art students enjoyed a day at the beach drawing plein-air. We left around 9am and took the long journey by mini bus to Holkham Beach on the Holkham estate along the North Norfolk coast. On arrival we proceeded along the path down to the beach. It was a little worrying what the weather would hold as on the previous day there was heavy rain, however, when we arrived the sun shone and the rain held off.
We found a secluded stretch of beach where we sat and drew from the wide vista using a range of dry media and drawing techniques. After which point we went looking for the sea which felt like a mile away trying to avoid large areas of slightly deep puddles!
At the water’s edge the students were asked to take a range of photographs trying to capture the expanse of the sea scape as well as more atmospheric images of the sea, sky and sand.
The students captured a variety of wonderful images and the day provided them with beautiful landscapes to be inspired by as they practised a range of techniques.
