On Monday 29th January, the Business and Economics Society were delighted to welcome our own Mrs Lonsdale (Sixth Form Pastoral Officer) to talk about her past career as a Buyer for Stylo Shoes PLC.
It was fascinating to learn all about the shoe industry and what it means to be a Buyer for a large organisation.
Jess Wathen (Lower Sixth) reflected on the talk: “I thought that Mrs Lonsdale’s talk was interesting because it gave an insight into the job opportunities that come with studying business. This was interesting to me because I didn’t realise how many international travelling opportunities come with some jobs available.”
Jaina Bharadia (Lower Sixth) added: “I found the talk that Mrs Lonsdale gave us very interesting. Seeing what I’ve learnt in class in the real world and how it affects the markets. Mrs Lonsdale spoke about her experiences in the shoe fashion industry and the process behind bringing a shoe to the market. She told us about her travelling experiences and the thought process when it came to predicting future shoe trends, which was very insightful.”
Haneha Kaur (Upper Sixth) said: “Having never learned Business or Economics, the talk by Mrs Lonsdale was very insightful. She, along with Mrs Simms, would expand on what seemed like 'business jargon' to me, to ensure that I too would be able to understand the processes which took place within the shoe design industry. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the talk, and would recommend it to other students who were looking to join the business world.”
