This week, three of our Lower Sixth IB Computer Science students explored app development using XCode. Having initially honed their programming skills in Python, Maia, Caitlin and Serena have been creating a custom app for their iPads.
The students, already proficient in Python, decided to investigate and research XCode, Apple's integrated development environment (IDE), to bring their creative ideas to life. They've been learning the intricacies of XCode, using its capabilities to design and code an app tailored for iOS devices. This not only showcases their programming skills but also reflects their adaptability and eagerness to explore new technologies. They are particularly excited about seeing their creation come to life on their own devices.
Serena said: “Learning Python provided us with a solid foundation, and now, using XCode, we're able to translate that knowledge into real-world applications for Apple devices.”
Maia added: “It's exciting to see how our coding skills can make a real impact on the technology we use every day.”
Dr Tansell (Head of Computer Science) said: “It's fantastic to see students enhance their coding skills. The shift from Python to XCode highlights their adaptability and emphasises the significance of offering a variety of programming experiences in our curriculum.”
