By Mrs Whomsley (Head of Year 5)

On Tuesday 20 March, Year 5 enjoyed a trip to Bedford Prep School to explore the vibrant Spanish culture as part of our Unit of Inquiry, Our beliefs and values are part of who we are and can influence how we live our lives.

Through a Spanish dancing session, furthering their language skills and discovering more about this country, they were transported to the heart of Spain, gaining a deeper understanding of cultural perspectives.

It was another occasion to join together with Year 5 pupils from BPS, following on from last term’s day together, and to work together on shared activities and build friendships across the two schools.

Freda (5B) said: “Doing the Spanish dancing was really fun because we got to learn salsa, and the Spanish translation was also great because of working together to get the right answer.”

Eva (5CS) said: "It was so much fun to express ourselves through dance and to learn new things about a different culture."

Ananya (5W) said: “I liked learning about Spanish culture because I didn’t know much about their culture before as we didn’t learn Spanish in my last school. It was my first time doing Spanish dancing and I think I did well!”

Fleur (5R) – “It was Salsa! We learnt to kick, twirl, clap and we saw how the rhythm was important to the dance.”
