Sixth Form Cricket

We are incredibly proud of cricketer Rhiannon Douglass (Lower Sixth), who was selected to represent the ECB Women's Pan-Disability Cricket team on Sunday 2nd June.

A keen and talented cricketer, Rhiannon has been an integral part of the cricket setup at BGS. In addition to representing the school, she also plays county cricket for the U18s Cricket East and for Ampthill Town Cricket Club.

Rhiannon reflected: “I've been involved in the ECB Women's Pan-Disability Cricket for three years now. We played against a Women's Army XI side. Unfortunately, we lost both matches, but they went down to the wire. It was the first time we'd played together in two years, and we have another fixture in September, which is something to look forward to.

“I also have a passion for coaching and help to coach the girls-only Dynamos at my club on Fridays. I hope to get my Level 1 coaching qualifications soon. It's been a really good start to the season; I have batted, kept wicket, and bowled. My best innings so far is 75 off 57 balls for the school against Oundle.

“I got involved in Pan-Disability cricket after attending an ECB Deaf Training Session a few years back. From there, it led to this incredible opportunity that the ECB has set up, and I've met so many amazing people because of it! For the past two years, we've had weekend training camps at both Loughborough and Edgbaston.

“Next year, the ECB hopes to have a Women's Disability League to run alongside the current Men's Disability League, and I can't wait to play in this!

“Pan-Disability cricket is something I'd never thought could be a pathway for me, but upon discovering it, I've enjoyed it so much because we all understand and accept one another. It's always such a privilege to be a part of, and it's some of the best fun I've had on a cricket field!”
