BGS’ U11 netball team had a week to remember after winning both the county and IAPS regional tournaments.
On Wednesday the U11A side became county champions after winning all of their matches. Remarkably, they scored 102 goals and conceded just four – beating Lincroft Middle School 13-3 in the final. Player of the tournament was shared between BGS’ Freya Arnold and Jelly Deville.
The B team also impressed, winning two of their five pool matches, with Harriet Gates winning the B Player of the Tournament.
The regionals took place the following day (Thursday), with the U11A team winning again to book their place at the IAPS Nationals in Basildon next Friday (10th March).
After a long day of competition, the girls were declared champions after scoring 66 goals in all of their matches and conceding only 21 goals.
They also remained unbeaten, winning matches against Warwick Prep School, The Blue Coat School, Stamford Junior School and King's Haword School.
Miss Huckle, Head of Netball, said: “Throughout the day the girls held every team except one to below three goals, which is testament to their tireless work rate and defensive pressure throughout the court. The girls were magnificent.”
Player of the tournament was given to both Natasha Miller and Megan Howlett. Secondly, the most improved player throughout the day was awarded to Lara Wildon.
