It was a weekend of sporting success for Mr Castro (Head of Swimming) and Miss Huckle (Head of Netball), who respectively won the British Triathlon Championships and Vitality Netball Superleague.
At the British Triathlon Championships, Mr Castro recorded the fastest swim and bike split, which gave him a good lead into the run - he won the age group and had the fastest time over all the age groups too. This weekend Mr Castro is travelling to Kitzbuhel, Austria to compete in the European Standard Distance Championships. Click here to see Mr Castro’s winning moment.
Mr Castro, adds: "It’s great to see so many girls asking about and competing in triathlon themselves. We have just had some fantastic results in the IAPS triathlon and I am sure it’s the first of many successes for the girls”.
The Wasps Netball team won the 2017 Superleague Grand Final 55-51 vs Loughborough Lightning, in Birmingham. The final was close throughout with neither team stretching a lead of more the 5 goals at any one time. In the final minute of the game the captain, Hannah Reid, intercepted a ball into the circle to secure the win for the Wasps. Watch the confetti celebration here.
Miss Huckle, adds: “The support I have received from BGS, has been invaluable. Not only have they supported me at school, but also at games televised on Sky Sports. Some of the BGS girls have also watched the games live and I know a few have bought season tickets".
