On Friday 15th March, Year 9 travelled to the NEC Arena in Birmingham to attend the Big Bang Fair.
The event is an annual celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for 7 to 19 year olds and gives young people the chance to try out over 100 hands-on activities.
During the visit, the students participated in numerous STEM activities related to virtual reality, medicine, marine biology, film and TV, space exploration, explosive chemistry, crime solving, robots, computer coding, microscopic bugs, giant trucks and more.
Hannah Whalley thoroughly enjoyed the hands on experience, she said: “The Big Bang Fair was great fun and an excellent experience. Throughout the day, we learned about different careers in the STEM industry. We achieved a great amount of knowledge about how unlock a safe using codes. We faced a difficult 30-minute challenge and had to solve a detective mystery quickly.”
