Many congratulations to talented athlete Megan Barnicoat (Year 4), who was placed 7th in the British Biathlon Championships held in Nottingham at the weekend (23rd November), which saw over 700 competitors taking part in the multiple discipline event.
Megan finished in 7th out of 32 athletes in the Under 9 Girls category, competing against girls from all over the country who had qualified. The 400m run was a personal best placing her in 8th, then a solid 25m swim in the 6th fastest time saw Megan improve her position.
Megan reflected on her first national biathlon event: “I have always enjoyed swimming and running, now I have found a sport where I can put them together which is great.”
Megan currently trains with the Modernian Swimming Club Junior Squad in Bedford, who she will start to race for in 2020, when she becomes old enough to compete for them.
