It was wonderful to welcome BGS alumna, Sabira Egan (2021), back into school for a lunchtime conversation with our Economics and Business students. Sabira shared her experiences of life at the University of Warwick where she is studying for a BASc in Economic Studies and Global Sustainable Development.

Sabira also talked about the work experience she has gained alongside her studies this year and gave some tips to the students to help them with their applications in the future.

Annabel Mullooly, a Business A Level student, said: “ Sabira’s talk not only allowed us to expand our knowledge but also educate ourselves of possible opportunities in the future. She provided us with examples of work experience and apprenticeships, such as ‘Spring Weeks’. Sabira concluded with the offer of help in how to approach our A Levels, writing out personal statements, choosing the right course for us or even going as far as applications for jobs.”

Scarlet Stokes, an Economics A Level student, said: “Sabira’s talk was extremely insightful. It was great to have someone who had been in the sixth form at BGS come in and speak about her experience at university and her course. The best thing about it was learning about 'spring weeks', I had never heard of them before and will definitely be looking into them when I go to university. She was a really great speaker and overall really engaging, it was such a pleasure to listen to her.”

Saffy Oakley-Holton, a Business A level student, said “Sabira’s talk made me aware of how many opportunities there are at university and the societies and sport that you can be involved in, which will help you in the future.  She was really positive about going to university and the experiences that you can have. It was inspirational to see someone from BGS making so much of university life.”
