A Stadium awash with vibrant colours, crowds supporting their Houses with great enthusiasm, and the BGS community finally back to witness the amazing atmosphere – Oh, how we’ve missed days like these!

Tuesday saw the return of the Junior School Sports Day at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium, our first down at the athletics track since 2019, meaning only the Year 6s had experienced the fun in all its glory!

The stands were buzzing with parents and athletes alike! Juniors from year 3-6 took part in various events including long jump, rounders ball throw, sprint, 600m and the legendary egg and spoon race.

The event finished off with relay races. We had one record being broken, this was by Megan Barnicoat in Hepburn (Year 6) who broke the 600m record previously held by 2021 BGS alumna Maddie Axford and Jessica Parrish (Year 9) in an amazing time of 1min 51.09seconds.

Tiana Natsa in Austen (Year 4) was super-fast in the egg and spoon but we don’t time this event!

The results were as follows:

1st- Hepburn 908

2nd- Austen 869

3rd- Nightingale 830

4th- Parks 812

5th- Chanel 802

6th- Franklin 794

A huge thank you to The Association for providing ice lollies. And thank you to all that helped organise and, on the day – The Green Kitchen, Nurses, Grounds Team, Junior School Staff, House Teams, Sixth Formers and the PE department.
