Miss Coote (Year 4 Teacher)
In line with the Senior School, Student Voice have once again been working hard to facilitate a Christmas food collection in aid of the Bedford Foodbank.
At our most recent meeting, we learnt some more about how Bedford Foodbank is helping local people in times of crisis, by providing nutritionally balanced emergency food.
After learning that over 502 children were fed by the Foodbanks in January of this year, the girls were motivated to continue their good work and plan for the next collection.
They liaised with each other to recycle large boxes from home into class collection boxes, adding festive decorations and a clear poster about the donations we needed and why. They then were in charge of organising their class collection, allocating different items to different people to ensure a high quality, variety of goods.
I have been so proud of their community spirit, and they have shown themselves to be both caring and principled.
Student Voice Rep, Arlana Cunningham (4C) said: “It is so important to donate food at Christmas. We don’t realise how lucky we are – not everyone is lucky enough to have 3 tasty meals a day. That’s why we are getting the girls in the Junior School to give nice treats and essentials to people that don’t have much. My favourite thing about organising the collection has been going shopping with my mummy to get the food from our class list of donations.”
We are still welcoming donations by Wednesday 7th December, please give the items to your daughter(s), who will drop them off in their classroom collection box. Click here to view the list of items.
Thank you for your support.
