On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to welcome Women in Publishing Award nominee and author, Anna James to the Junior School. Anna is best known for her children’s book series Pages and Co. The titles revolve around a young girl, living in a bookstore, who can portal into the worlds she reads about in her books.

During her visit Anna shared insights into her career as an author, discussed her current and upcoming books, and responded to questions, offering valuable advice to aspiring writers.

Her presentation incorporated a series of activities, inspired by the countries featured in her books.   Finally, the girls were given the opportunity to create their very own fairy-tale story that found a potato called Tilly, assisting a mermaid called Medusa, to locate a magic ice-crystal.

The event concluded with the opportunity for the girls to meet the author and have personal copies of ‘Pages and Co’ signed. This was a great moment for both students and Anna, as students and author spoke one-on-one about their own likes and dislikes when it came to reading, books and all things literary.

One Year 4’s summed-up everyone’s feelings by stating “Such a fun morning, I think I want to be an author now”.
